Good afternoon, beautiful people! I have a new knitting pattern for you today. With it being close to St. Patrick’s Day, and I had some green cotton yarn to use, I decided to create a shamrock dishcloth pattern for me to use around the house. Besides, it also reminded me of the clover leaves that grow here on the farm, and who doesn’t want to bring a little bit of springtime inside after a long winter?
This is a fairly quick pattern to knit up, and it’s completely accessible to a beginner knitter. The only knitting knowledge you need to have it casting on and off, knitting, and purling. That’s it.
If you prefer a tightly-stitched, smaller cloth, you need to use US 3 or US 4 knitting needles. For a larger, more relaxed cloth, use US 5 or US 6 needles. I would suggest aluminum needles as cotton can get a bit grabby on wooden needles, or so I have found. Whatever you prefer, though.
So let’s grab your needles and your yarn, and let’s get started.
Materials:
- Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn
- Size 3 (3.25mm) — 6 (4mm) needles
- Tapestry Needle
Knowledge Needed:
- Knit
- Purl
- Casting On
- Casting Off
Pattern:
Cast on 42 stitches.
